VAUXHALL ASTRA G Mk4 1.6i 2003 ACTIVE MOT MARCH 21 Good Condition No Rust

  

I have owned this car for the last 3 years and it has never let me down. The car is in very good cosmetic condition with no rust. It does have a few minor scrapes and scratches due to the fact its now 17 years old. I have replaced the starter motor and the battery. It has had a recent service inc new plugs, air filter and oil filter only 200 miles ago. I have also replaced the EGR valve and the air flow meter valve. It has had a new exhaust fitted, back box a few months ago and front and middle only last week. It has 4 good tires including 2 Goodyear's fitted to the rear. A couple of months ago the warning light with a car with a spanner through it started coming on, this would put the car into limp home mode. I would stop the car and re-start it and it would drive OK. This started happening more and more until it was impossible to get to work only 11 mile away without having to stop several times. Its now on almost all of the time. A local garage put it on the diagnostic machine and it came up upper and lower throttle position sensors faulty. I was told it might be the throttle body or the throttle pedal as they are fly by wire sensors. I changed both of these with second hand units and took it for a test drive. I got 12 miles into the drive with no problems and thought the problem was sorted but then the light came on again, when this happens the revs drop and progress through the gears is sluggish but I still managed to do 60mph on the way home. Also the ABS light comes on now and then. I think if you have a good mechanical knowledge you will be able to sort this out and you will have a good solid car with 6 months MOT. This car is too good to scrap and also to good to sell as spares, it just needs repaired. The seller is "englishthornproofclothing" and is located in Bedlington.
